Anaerobic and Aerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor (AASB) Technology is a variant of the UASB concept. AASB Technology is 100% natural and it makes use of the naturally occurring anaerobic microbes to deal with wastes. The effluent passes through the bio-film; the biodegradable matter contained in it is degraded. This brings down the BOD and COD significantly. Chemical oxygen demand reduction of 98% was obtained using this combined system. The results demonstrated that a combination of anaerobic and aerobic treatment produced a very high degree of purification and substantial amounts of methane gas. The treatment efficiency is enhanced and accelerated by adding specific enzymes developed by the United Water Solutions. |

Reverse osmosis occurs when the water is moved across the membrane against the concentration gradient, from lower concentration to higher concentration. To illustrate, imagine a semi permeable membrane with fresh water on one side and a concentrated aqueous solution on the other side. If normal osmosis takes place, the fresh water will cross the membrane to dilute the concentrated solution. In reverse osmosis, pressure is exerted on the side with the concentrated solution to force the water molecules across the membrane to the fresh water side. Reverse osmosis is often used in commercial and residential water filtration. It is also one of the methods used to desalinate seawater.
